Map of Cayo Coco, Central Cuba
Location of Cayo Coco on the Cuba Map
Taking a view on the Cayo Coco Map you will notice that Cayo Coco Island is situated in the northern cost of central Cuba and not not to far from southern Bahama Islands. Typical for the northern cuban coast is the large chain of smaller and larger CAYOS, mostly unspoiled keys, called Jardines del Rey (Kings Gardens). Cayo Coco is not an completely isolated island, because cuban authorities constructed a large causeway (locally called pedraplen) which connects Cayao Coco with the mainland near Moron and Ciego de Avila, whith its International Airport. Another Pedraplen (causeway also connetcs Cayo Coco with Caya Guillermo, with also very attractive Beaches, Hotels and resorts. It is not exactly proven, if the name "Coco" results from the coconut trees on the island or the locally called "coco-bird".
